Acne scars are a common problem that affects many people both young and old.

It can cause distress and affect the self-esteem and self confidence in many people.

There are different types of acne scars:

  • Rolling scars
  • Boxcar scars
  • Ice pick scars
  • Atrophic scars
  • Keloid scars

Treatment of acne scars will depend on the scar type, scar depth and skin type.

Sometimes we may need a combination of different methods like fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing, scar subcision, TCA CROSS etc to achieve good result.

Scar subcision is an excellent option for the following types of scars and skin conditions

  • Rolling acne scars
  • Boxcar scars
  • Chickenpox scars
  • Deep Wrinkles such as deep nasolabial folds, forehead lines, glabellar lines, marionette lines
  • Stretchable scars from injury or surgery

How is the traditional Method of scar subcision performed?

The traditional conventional way of scar subcision involves the use of a sharp 18G-23G needle or a 18G Nokor needle.

Local anaesthetic is injected to numb the skin. The needle is directed under the skin to break the bands of fibrous scar tissue that is tethering and pulling down the scars.

This allows the scars to be released and lifted up.

However the disadvantages of the traditional needle subcision method are

  1. Painful
  2. Traumatic
  3. Bruising and bleeding
  4. Long down time at least 2 weeks

However this is a thing of the Past!

The advantage of InnoPlus RF in scar subcision is that it is almost Painless and Effective!

InnoPlus  is a non surgical Radiofrequency system that combines RF and subcision technology.

How is InnoPlus RF Subcision performed?

A blunt special RF cannula is inserted under the skin .The radiofrequency waves emitted will break and subcise  the underlying fibrous tissue thereby releasing and lifting the depressed scars.

The radiofrequency waves will also stimulate new collagen formations improving

  1. Scars
  2. Skin complexion
  3. Skin elasticity
  4. Skin lifting
  5. Facial contouring
  6. Reducing wrinkles

Mesococktails of growth factors or fillers can also be simultaneously injected through the cannula under the skin to help boost skin regeneration and anti-aging.

Advantages of InnoPlus Subcision

  • Almost painless and non traumatic.
  • Minimal bruising and bleeding as it uses a blunt cannula.
  • No down time.
  • Only a few skin insertion points are required as each entry point can treat a large area
  • RF waves promote collagen regeneration.
  • Fillers, skin whitening solutions etc can be simultaneously injected under the skin through the cannula .

How many sessions do I need ?

This varies among individual depending on the scar depth, size, location and type.

Usually 2-3 subcisions spaced out at 4 weeks apart is required to give the best results.
