MOLES, WARTS & SKIN TAGS REMOVAL

Moles, warts and skin tags can be removed using our conventional CO2 Laser System .

Because the laser procedure seals blood vessels and removes  tissue by vaporization, there is no need for sutures or cutting.

A local numbing cream is used to provide anaesthesia. The resultant scar tissue is also usually less evident as compared to other methods of removal.

Milia Removal

Milia are keratin containing cysts that appear as small whitish bumps, usually on the cheeks and nose.

Moles Removal

Moles are collections/ nests of melanocytes that occur as dark brown spots on the skin.

They can be round or oval in shape .They can be flat or raised.

Most moles are benign although some may turn cancerous. It is important to look out for signs that may indicate cancerous changes.

New spots on the skin or a change in size, shape or color of an existing mole may indicate cancerous change. The ABCDE method may help you determine if an abnormal skin growth may be cancerous:

  • Asymmetry:The mole has an irregular shape.
  • Border:The edge is not smooth, but irregular or notched.
  • Color: The mole has uneven shading or dark spots.
  • Diameter: The spot is larger than 6 mm.
  • Evolving or Elevation: The spot is changing in size, shape or texture.

The only way to be sure if a mole is melanoma is to have it examined by a doctor.

Other melanoma symptoms may include:

  • Sores that do not heal
  • Pigment, redness or swelling that spreads outside the border of a spot to the surrounding skin
  • Itchiness, tenderness or pain
  • Changes in texture, scaling, oozing or bleeding from an existing mole
  • Blurry vision or partial loss of sight, or dark spots in the iris

Luckily most moles are Benign and can have a recurrence rate of 20% to 30% even after laser removal or electrocautery. Repeated sessions may be needed. It is important to avoid sunlight and apply sunblock regularly.

Warts/ Skin Tags Removal

Warts and skin tags are common unsightly skin growths.

skin tag is a tiny, benign outpouching of skin that is typically connected to the underlying skin by a thin stalk. Skin tags look like tiny bits of “hanging” skin and typically occur at sites where clothing rubs against the skin or where there is skin-to-skin friction, such as the underarms, neck, upper chest, and groin.

Warts are harmless skin growths caused by a virus. They can grow on any part of the body, like on the face, along the forearms or on the finger. Warts have a rough surface on which tiny, dark dots can often be seen. On pressure areas like the palms or the soles, they appear flat. Warts on the sole (called plantar warts) grow inward from the pressure of standing and walking and are often painful.

Skin tag or wart?

Compared with warts, skin tags are:

  • smooth and soft (warts tend to be rougher with an irregular surface)
  • knobbly and hang off the skin (warts are usually slightly raised or flat)
  • not contagious (warts spread very easily, so a sudden outbreak or cluster of growths is more likely to be warts)

Moles, warts, milia and skin tags can be removed by:

  • CO2 Laser ablation
  • Surgitron Radiofrequency
  • Electrocautery
  • Surgical excision

A numbing cream or local anaesthetic injection will be first used to numb the skin.

CO2 laser or Surgitron RF treatment can remove the moles, skin tags, warts and milia with minimal pain.

Because the CO2 laser  or Surgitron RF treatment seal the blood vessels and remove the tissues by vaporization, there is no need for cutting or suturing.

There is very little bleeding and scarring is also kept to the minimum.

Warts may recur after laser removal so repeated sessions may be required.

Removal of Tattoos/ Permanent Make Up

This requires the use of a Q switch Nd:Yag Laser. Depending on the colours of the tattoo, some may require multiple sessions. Speak to us for more information on tattoo removal.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic condition characterized by facial erythema. Pimples are sometimes included as part of the definition. Unless it affects the eyes, it is typically a harmless cosmetic condition.

Rosacea typically begins as redness on the central face across the cheeks, nose, or forehead, but can also less commonly affect the neck, chest, ears, and scalp.

Dermatological vascular lasers or Intense Pulsed Light machines offer one of the best treatments for rosacea, in particular the erythema (redness) of the skin. They use light to penetrate the epidermis to target the capillaries in the dermis layer of the skin.

The light is absorbed by oxy-hemoglobin, causing the capillary walls to heat up to 70°C. The damaged capillaries are then absorbed by the body’s natural defense mechanism.

With a sufficient number of treatments, this method may even eliminate the redness altogether, though additional periodic treatments will likely be necessary to remove newly-formed capillaries.

Telangiectasia/Spider Veins

Telangiectasias are small blood vessels on the skin. They may develop anywhere within the body but can be easily seen in the skin (face and legs), mucous membranes, and whites of the eyes. Usually, they do not cause symptoms. However, some telangiectasias may be prone to bleeding and cause significant problems. Common causes of spider veins include alcohol use, aging and sun exposure.

During laser treatment, a laser is applied to the skin over your spider veins. Laser energy causes your spider veins to coagulate and shrink. Laser therapy is most effective for small and medium size spider veins. You are likely to experience mild discomfort similar to having a small rubber band snapping against skin. Depending on your tolerance levels, you may opt to use a numbing cream prior to laser treatment. Immediately following treatment, spider veins will be darker and more visible.

Over two to six weeks, your spider veins usually fade. After each treatment, you will see a 70% to 80% improvement in the appearance of face spider veins and 30-40% improvement in leg spider veins.

An average of three to six treatments will be required at monthly intervals to produce desired results.
