TATTOO REMOVAL

Tattoos can be lightened or removed by using the Q-switched Nd Yag Laser.

How is it done?

A numbing cream is first applied to the skin and left for 30 – 40 minutes.

Laser beams are directed onto the tattoo. This will break up the tattoo particles allowing the body to remove the ink particles gradually over the next few weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

While 2-12 treatments are the norm, the size, depth, quality, location and colour of your tattoo are also influencing factors.

Treatment will usually take 5-15 minutes and are spaced at 4-8 weeks interval. This allows your body time to remove the pigment prior to your next session. Most patients will see a gradual improvement that can range from a lightening in appearance to a dramatic removal of all traces of the ink.

Is it painful?

Most patients find the discomfort of tattoo removal acceptable, like the feeling of rubber band snapping on the skin. We will usually use a numbing cream and ice compress to make it even more comfortable. Oral pain killers may be prescibed if required.
